Fast Track to Medicine Starts Here

Accelerated Academic Pathway

Students in MKEAP complete a rigorous, three-year undergraduate curriculum at Missouri Southern, specifically designed to prepare them for success in the KCU Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or Doctor of Dental Medicine programs. Upon completion, students earn a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences or a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.

Integrated Faculty & Curriculumstudents

MKEAP students benefit from an enhanced curriculum co-developed by faculty from both MSSU and KCU. Courses are designed to deepen understanding of:

  • Medical reasoning
  • Medical literature
  • Scientific foundations for health professions

Students also have the opportunity to engage with current KCU medical students and gain early exposure to clinical environments, in large part due to the two major area hospital systems in the area—Freeman and Mercy.

Interdisciplinary, Themed Courses

Even general education classes in the program carry a healthcare-related theme to broaden students' cultural, ethical, and linguistic competence in the medical field.

Specialized Courses Include:

  • Art of Observation (Fine Arts)
  • Medical Spanish (Modern Language)
  • Medical Literature (English Literature)
  • Study Abroad (Themed trips, such as our Art and Anatomy in Italy) course that culminates in two weeks in Italy.

Green Coat Ceremonymkeap students

Your journey begins with a symbolic milestone: the Green Coat Ceremony.
Each MKEAP student receives a green coat in recognition of their early acceptance into medical or dental school—a preview of the traditional white coat they will receive at KCU.

“After a formal signing ceremony, each student will be presented with their green coats,” said Dr. Donna Johnson, advisor for the MKEAP. “When you start medical school, you attend a white coat ceremony. We wanted something that was symbolic of their journey at Missouri Southern and what’s ahead of them.”
